BLACK+DECKER 3.5 vs Feelfunn 3.5 Portable Dryer: Same Drum, Different Load Figures

Two 3.5 cubic foot portable dryers that match on drum, power and weight, and state their load as 13.2 pounds and 26 pounds wet, a figure our own review once gave as 40 pounds dry.

Two 120-volt portable dryers with the same stated drum, the same 1500-watt element and a weight within 5.6 pounds of each other. They are alike on every figure that can be read off a listing and they state the load they can dry in different ways: 13.2 pounds with no wet-or-dry label on one, 26 pounds of wet clothes on the other. Until 2 October 2026 our own review of the Feelfunn gave a third figure, 40 pounds dry, and that correction is part of what this page is about.

One drum size, three load figures

The BLACK+DECKER states 13.2 pounds, in its title and again in its bullet, where it calls it a “load volume”. Our review agrees. The Feelfunn’s Amazon bullet is different: it says that for quicker drying you should limit the load to 26 pounds of wet clothes. Our review of the Feelfunn now says the same 26 pounds wet. Until 2 October 2026 it said instead that the load capacity was 3.5 cubic feet at 40 pounds dry weight, a figure the listing never states. Counting that earlier figure, one drum size carried three load figures, and they were not in the same units: one says nothing about wet or dry, one says wet, and one said dry. A wet load is heavier than the same clothes dry, so 26 wet pounds is a smaller dry load than 26, and 40 dry pounds is a larger load than either.

Taken at face value, the review’s earlier Feelfunn figure was 3.0 times the BLACK+DECKER’s, in a drum of the same stated volume, and the Feelfunn listing’s own figure is 2.0 times. Per cubic foot, 13.2 pounds is 3.8 and 40 pounds is 11.4. A 40-pound dry load in a portable dryer that itself weighs 55.1 pounds, on a 1500-watt element with a 140-degree ceiling, is hard to credit, and it contradicted the Feelfunn’s own listing, which says 26 wet and states no dry figure. It was a mistake in our review of this product, and on 2 October 2026 we corrected the review’s table to the listing’s 26 pounds wet. The table above records the earlier figure so that the change is visible, and this page does not rely on it.

The practical lesson is general. A portable dryer’s “capacity” appears as cubic feet, as pounds of dry laundry and as pounds of wet laundry, and a shopper comparing two listings can be comparing different quantities without a sign of it. When you compare dryers, compare the cubic feet, which both of these state and which agree between Amazon and our reviews, and treat any pound figure as meaningful only when the listing says wet or dry.

Each row is scaled to its larger value. Weight, size and power are close; the load figures are not drawn, because they are not comparable.

Four more listings at 3.5 cubic feet

Two more portable dryers state a 3.5 cubic foot drum and a load. A Panda listing says its drum “can handle up to 13.2 pounds of laundry”, the same figure as the BLACK+DECKER, and a Euhomy listing says its large capacity is 26.4 pounds of wet clothes. The Feelfunn’s own bullet says 26 wet. So the drum size that is stated by five listings comes with two load figures, 13.2 and about 26, and 26.4 is exactly twice 13.2. That fits one load stated dry on some listings and wet on others, and the listings do not say that it is, so we leave it as a pattern and not a finding. A fourth, a TABU, states the drum and no load at all. None of the five gives a drying time for a stated load, and only the BLACK+DECKER states a range of drying times.

Size, weight and what you plug into

The listings give a width of 23.6 inches for both. The BLACK+DECKER is 21.5 inches deep and 27.5 tall, the Feelfunn 22.4 deep and 26.8 tall, so 507 and 529 square inches of floor, within 22 square inches of each other. The Feelfunn is 5.6 pounds heavier, at 55.1 against 49.5. Among the 5 portable dryers in the catalogue stating 3.4 cubic feet or more, 3 state a weight, and the median is 25 kilograms, so both are in the usual range.

Both run on a standard household outlet: the BLACK+DECKER is listed at 120 volts and 1500 watts with no electrical hard-wiring, the Feelfunn as suitable for 110 and 120 volts, with a 140 degree maximum. Both are vented and ship with a way to connect the vent: the BLACK+DECKER with a 4 inch hose, exhaust connector and lint and exhaust filters, the Feelfunn with an exhaust connector, plastic spacers and hanging brackets. The Feelfunn lists a left-hinged door, an LCD touch panel and a three-layer lint filter, and says it can be wall-mounted; the BLACK+DECKER lists drying times from 30 to 200 minutes. Neither listing gives a drying time for a stated load, which is the figure you actually plan around.

Which suits which

The BLACK+DECKER 3.5 suits you if

  • you want a load figure the listing and our review agree on, 13.2 pounds, and a model number, BCED37, that you can look up;
  • you want the lighter of the two, by about five pounds;
  • a four-inch vent hose and lint and exhaust filters listed in the box is the reassurance you want.

The Feelfunn 3.5 suits you if

  • wall mounting and a touch panel are features you will use;
  • you can live with a listing whose load guidance is 26 pounds of wet clothes and states no dry figure;
  • you have confirmed the 22.4 inch depth and the weight against the place it goes.

What this comparison cannot tell you

Nothing here was tested. We cannot say how fast either dries a load, what it does to a towel or which keeps its heat. The Feelfunn does not have a price band on record, so cost cannot be compared here. For each in full, read our review of the BLACK+DECKER 3.5 and our review of the Feelfunn 3.5, and for the whole class see the portable dryer report.
